Lanarkshire firm wins at National Business Awards

A Scottish call centre has received a prestigious award at a ceremony in London, it has been reported.

Lanarkshire-based beCogent was named Employer of the Year at the National Business Awards 2008, beating nine other nominees, according to the BBC.

The firm, which employs around 2,500 staff, has been rewarded for its achievements across 18 different categories, including a commitment to improving customer service levels.

Broadcaster Andrew Marr presented the award at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Tuesday November 18th, the news provider states.

Last week, it was revealed that Northumbrian Water has been named North-East Contact Centre of the Year 2008 in the under-200 seats class.

The Newcastle Evening Chronicle reported that the centre handles more than one million enquiries every year.

Northumbrian Water's contact centre manager, Claire Sharp, expressed delight that the firm had won such a "prestigious award".
