"These days, many companies claim that their customer service is second to none but it is rare to actually find a company which can live up to this claim. CCT delivers what other companies dream of."

CCT's Nominated Charity

Bloodbikes is an Emergency Hospital Courier Service, a registered charity who rely solely on volunteers and fundraising. The charity uses motorcycles (and sometimes cars) to provide an out-of-hours courier service to hospitals and other health institutions.

The bikes carry urgently needed medical items such as blood, biological samples, medical notes, x-rays and scans – saving the NHS money, who would otherwise have to use their own staff or taxi services. The service is offered free of charge to the NHS and all members are unpaid volunteers.

Bloodbikes has extended their service to help premature and sick babies by collecting mother’s milk from donors and delivering it to Maternity Hospitals.

But Bloodbikes needs to replace some of their ageing fleet of motorbikes and to add 4x4’s to the fleet so they can access more parts of the country in any weather!

In 2009, CCT’s founder, Russell Attwood, took part in a sponsored bike ride to raise money for Freewheelers - the branch of Bloodbikes local to our headquarters in Bristol.

Freewheelers has c.60 volunteers and three active duty motorcycles which cover 100,000 miles a year making around 2,500 deliveries, saving the NHS in excess of £150,000 each year. Some years late, Russell has now volunteered to be a Bloodbikes rider.

In 2010, Russ and Martin Deaker, our Services Director, teamed up to cover some serious mileage on another sponsored ride. And in 2011, Richard Pinnington, Head of Marketing, joined them to form an informal CCT team to help two Freewheelers - Mike Burns and Paul Lowe -  on their sponsored cycle that covered 1,200 miles, from one end of the country to the other - linking up all 24 x NHS Blood Centres.

This year, CCT has entered a team on the ride in May that will take in all of the Milk Banks around the UK, a 14 day bike ride covering 800 miles.

There’ll be a CCT rider on every leg, handing the baton to another team member each day. Russ has signed up again, and we’ve roped in the heads of our division within Capita too. We’ll be joined by 10 other teams, all trying to raise money for this terrific charity.
